11 Keto-Friendly Hot Sauces Ranked

Most hot sauces are naturally keto. They usually have zero carbs, zero calories, just peppers, vinegar, and salt. The catch is hidden sugar: some brands sneak in agave, cane sugar, or juice concentrate that can add up fast if you're tracking macros closely.

Down below, I've ranked 11 zero-carb hot sauces from true keto to lazy keto, so you know exactly what's in the bottle before you reach for it. If you are just starting out, make sure to read my easy keto diet start guide.

What Makes a Hot Sauce Keto-Friendly

Look for a short ingredient list: peppers, vinegar, water, salt, garlic. That's true keto. Lazy keto sauces might add cane sugar, agave, or juice concentrate for a gram or two of net carbs per serving - still fine if you're hitting your macros, just good to know going in.

Ranking hot sauce is subjective since heat tolerance and taste vary person to person. These are ranked true keto to lazy keto, not mild to hot, so read each one before you buy if you care about heat level. All have zero carbs, fat, and calories. Sodium and heat level vary by bottle.

1. Frank's RedHot Original

Ingredients: aged cayenne red peppers, distilled vinegar, water, salt, garlic powder.

The one you'll reach for daily. It's the original ingredient in Buffalo wings (Buffalo, NY, 1964), and it's mild enough to go on eggs, meat, or ranch dressing without taking over. Mix it with melted butter for a two-ingredient homemade buffalo sauce. The pre-mixed Original Buffalo version has xanthan gum - watch your serving size if you're strict keto or carnivore.

2. Tabasco Original Red Sauce

Ingredients: aged red peppers, vinegar, salt.

The oldest major hot sauce brand in the US (1868), and still just three ingredients. Sharp and vinegar-forward - great with eggs or in a Bloody Mary. Good for keto breakfasts.

3. Louisiana Hot Sauce

Ingredients: aged peppers, distilled vinegar, salt.

More acidic than Frank's if you want tang over depth. Good on eggs or stirred into soup.

4. Cholula

Ingredients: arbol and piquin peppers, spice blend.

Balanced heat and flavor - good on just about anything, including a can of green beans (don't knock it). It also comes in a variety pack with Chili-Lime, Chili-Garlic, Chipotle, Green Pepper, and Sweet Habanero flavors; check labels on the flavored versions since some add sugar. Great for keto lunches.

5. Dave's Ultimate Insanity Hot Sauce

Ingredients: Red Savina habaneros, red chilies, hot pepper extract.

Save for later?

I'll email you this post, so you can come back to it later!

The hottest sauce on this list - Red Savina held the Scoville record until ghost peppers came along. A few drops go a long way.

6. Huy Fong Sambal Oelek Chili Paste

Ingredients: ground fresh chilies, vinegar, salt.

A solid Sriracha swap, since regular Sriracha usually has added sugar. Good with miracle noodles or cauliflower rice.

7. Tapatío Salsa Picante Hot Sauce

Founded in California in 1971. Moderate heat, classic Mexican hot sauce flavor - great on keto taco casserole.

8. Texas Pete (Original)

Milder than most on this list, with a distinctive flavor. Good starting point if you're heat-sensitive.

9. Tabañero Extra Hot

Low in net carbs but contains agave, which lands it on the "check twice" list for true keto - agave can raise blood sugar and interfere with ketosis.

10. Noble Made Mild Buffalo Wing Sauce

Contains a non-keto juice concentrate sweetener. Fine for lazy keto, not for strict.

11. Taco Bell Hot Sauce

Zero carbs and only 30mg sodium, but the additive list (sodium benzoate, maltodextrin - a sugar) puts it last. Good for lazy keto if you already love it; skip it if you're being strict about additives.

New Hot Sauces Worth Trying

A few newer names coming up a lot in 2026 hot sauce roundups, if you want to branch out:

  • Yellowbird - the sauce everyone's talking about right now. Fresh, veggie-forward (serrano, habanero, jalapeño), and labeled 0g sugar per serving - though cane sugar is listed in the ingredients, so it's a lazy-keto pick rather than strict.
  • Tia Lupita - marketed keto and low-sodium, useful if you're watching sodium alongside carbs.
  • Co-Op Sauce - a newer wild-fermented, sugar-free line if you like a tangier, probiotic-style sauce.

The biggest carb risk isn't the hot sauce, it's what you put it on. Work down this list, check labels on anything with fruit, juice, or "natural sweetener" in the ingredients, and you'll stay in ketosis just fine. Tell me in the comments if I missed your favorite.
